      This paper analyses the relationship between the rate of ventilation and the amount of heat removed from the underground non-refrigerated fruit storage. In view of the necessities of removing the heat and storing the cold energy by soil around the storage, the index of ventilation for evaluating and designing the the underground storage is set up. Also the calculation of the amonnt of the heat generated inside the storage by fruits, workers and the lighting system is made and discussed. Based on that, the method and rogram for designing the ventilation system of the undergound fruit storage is given, and some results are finally shown.
